Nicola Stockley
Born in Swanage, UK
British based artist.
I am an explorer!
Through my interests in the natural world, I create illustrations and picture books that travel through extraordinary landscapes, encounter fantastical plants and discover many creatures along the way. Hand-drawing is at the centre of my daily life and it helps me generate concepts and ideas for new projects. Drawing gives me a freedom to work fluently and originally; it underpins every illustrative project I undertake. With a BA in fine art and an MA in illustration, my practice explores a balance between traditional and digital mediums.

As well as working as a Fine Artist using illustration, I design my own fabrics and create my own bespoke, handmade products. I am currently a resident artist in Purbeck New Wave Gallery in Swanage, Dorset.
Teaching is another passion of mine and I believe that, with patience and time, anyone can learn to draw and paint. I started Purbeck and Poole painters to teach beginner/ improver art classes providing students with all the materials and guidance they need to learn about different artistic mediums and have a lot of fun at the same time!
